Redes / Nets series started in 2018 and its ongoing
The textiles pieces Redes / Nets are part of a socially engaged series called HamacaS, which explores the cultural dissonance and emotional displacement experienced by Latin American and Caribbean immigrants in the United States. It asks us to imagine how immigrants carry place with them across borders and barriers. The textiles pieces were partially woven collectively at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens NY and at Museum of Contemporary Art of North Miami (MOCA/NOMI) while sharing craft and stories.
